How to Appeal My Case

With few exceptions, appeals are brought to the Indiana Court of Appeals. To appeal a case in Indiana, you must first file a "Notice of Appeal" in the Indiana Court of Appeals after the entry of a Final Judgment from your trial court. It is important to note that the "entry date" is the date when the judgment is noted in the Chronological Case Summary, so you must pay attention to the CCS so that you do not miss the judgment entry. You may monitor the CCS on MyCase. A link to this site is included below. The filing fee for an appeal is $250. After you file your Notice of Appeal, you must make sure that both you and all other officials follow the Indiana Rules of Appellate Procedure. If you or a court official miss a deadline, then your appeal is subject to dismissal. For this reason, it is important to have an experienced and skilled attorney handling your appeal.

Have you missed your appeals deadline? Meeting your appeals deadline is absolutely critical. However, if you find yourself past the deadline, you may have options. Contact the McGovern Law Office at (812) 499-7095 to discuss these possible options.
